ORLANDO, Fla. — Winn-Dixie is ringing in the holiday season with a limited-edition wine advent calendar in select stores. Winn-Dixie said that the advent calendars will feature a unique assortment of red, white and rosé varieties, including selections created by award-winning wineries. The new Mistletoe Magic Holiday Wine Collection will include 24 miniature bottles for $69.99. The calendars will be available in more than 270 select Winn-Dixie stores beginning Oct. 15. PORT ORANGE, Fla. — An 85-year-old man, who is a registered sex offender, is accused of offering a woman $100,000 to buy her young daughter. It’s not the first time he has been accused of offering to buy a child at a grocery store. In 2018, Kolb was arrested after police said he was accused of attempting to buy an 8-year-old girl from her mother for $200,000 at a Walmart. At the Winn-Dixie, police said when they asked Kolb, he admitted that he asked to buy the young girl before starting to laugh. An officer said in the police report that he then contacted Kolb’s probation officer to let them know about the incident.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Southeastern Grocers, the parent company and home of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, began distributing N95 masks at pharmacy locations over the weekend. The grocer said it will distribute more than 2 million free masks at all in-store pharmacies. There is a limit of three masks per customer. Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie pharmacies are set to distribute over two million free N95 masks as early as Friday, according to Southeastern Grocers.

Two Florida-based grocery chains are limiting the number of items sold to customers ahead of the busy Thanksgiving holiday.

This local-support program runs through the end of November. Every dollar spent on a bouquet means 10 meals for a local charity.

Anyone looking to get vaccinated against COVID-19 this weekend will have plenty of options when it comes to places to get their shots.

All Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys pharmacies across Florida are no longer requiring appointments to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Some Walgreens stores in the state are also accepting walk-ups.

Winn-Dixie is now administering all three COVID-19 vaccines after lifting the temporary pause placed on the Johnson & Johnson shot while federal health officials investigated its link to blood clots.

In that mix is Uncommon Catering, the boutique company run by Tara Vernau-Smith and her husband, Travis. Not with a menu featuring a hodgepodge — albeit a focused hodgepodge — of such varied items as bao, empanadas, poke, chicken and biscuits, and charcuterie boards. Admittedly, I didn't anticipate such an amalgam of killer offerings (probably the '80s camp counselor in me), though I probably should have. My quibble was with the jalapeño-cilantro sour cream served with the empanadas – it, conversely, made each bite too weighty. Tara's a Pennsylvania transplant, so it's no surprise she pays homage to DiNic's inside the Reading Terminal Market with a herb-roasted pork sandwich ($12).

ORLANDO, Fla. – Winn-Dixie has expanded its vaccine eligibility requirements to include educators and child care workers of all ages and medically vulnerable individuals. AdAppointments and proof of eligibility are required for anyone hoping to get vaccinated, according to the company. “While making their appointment, educators will need to follow the prompts in the online scheduler to attest to their eligibility. Medically vulnerable individuals under the age of 65 will need to present the FDOH form for physicians to certify that they are extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 and eligible to receive the vaccine. Those planning to get the shot under the “extremely vulnerable” criteria should have this form filled out by their doctor.

Winn-Dixie began administering COVID-19 vaccinations at stores all across Florida on Thursday. According to Southern Grocers, Inc. the company that owns Winn-Dixie, the grocery chain was expected to receive 8,100 doses of the Moderna vaccine through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Irene, 79, and Cal Blenis, 86, went to Winn-Dixie Thursday morning to try and find out more about the COVID-19 vaccine but they were told appointments were booked for the day. The coronavirus made it tough for shoppers to find some items. What he didnt find were paper products, like toilet paper, and virus-killing chemicals. Those handy canisters of disinfecting wipes had been wiped out by shoppers looking to defend themselves against the coronavirus. Darren Leggett, 54, of Ormond Beach, was shopping at the Winn-Dixie in Holly Hill. The shelves where it would have been warned customers that there was a two-bottle limit because of the increase for customer demand.

Chick-fil-A sauce lovers, rejoice! Chick-fil-A is entering the grocery business with bottles of its signature and Polynesian sauces, CNN reports. Starting in April, the 16-ounce bottles will be sold in Florida at Publix, Target, Walmart and Winn-Dixie stores.
