Gas prices keep climbing in aftermath of Harvey

Orlando residents paying an average of $2.62 per gallon

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gas prices across Central Florida have risen sharply over the last week, according to AAA.

Analysts say drivers in Orlando are paying an average of $2.62 per gallon, a 34-cent increase from just a week ago. The increase was 32 cents in Daytona Beach, which also sits at $2.62 as of Monday morning.

By comparison, Florida's average gas price is $2.64, while the national average is $2.63.

Last week, experts with AAA warned of rising prices at the pump because of damage to refineries in Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey. They also say prices might not be done rising yet as inspectors assess the damage.
