Video: Woman rams police cars, leads chase

Ocala police arrest Robin Kennedy for dangerous driving

OCALA, Fla. – Ocala police cameras caught a woman ramming her vehicle into squad cars three times and taking police on a high-speed chase through the heart of the city.

Police arrested Robin Kennedy, 24, after she allegedly took them on a chase reaching speeds of 70 mph.

The police report said the incident started when the woman rammed a police cruiser, then took cops on a chase down State Road 40, before surrendering next to a barn off southwest 125th Avenue. On the video, Kennedy is seen stepping out of the silver Mercury Sable with her arms in the air.

"It just hit it, bam! I said, 'Oh my God!' It backed up, backed up, stepped on it again and ran and hit it again, bam! The whole bumper of the police car flew up in the air," said Rupert Woods, who watched as the car pulled up to the officers' cars, and crash without any apparent reason. "She left out of here like a bat out of hell."

The dashcam videos shows Kennedy weaving around cars, driving on the wrong side of the road, ignoring stop signs and lights, and crashing into a hedge and through a fence.

The dangerous chase started out-of-the-blue.

Records show it's not the first time Kennedy has had trouble with the law. She's been arrested for stripping naked in public, and simple battery.

As she sits in jail, her mom told Local 6 there a good reason why she did what she did.

"She doesn't have a motive. She's just sick and she doesn't know what she's doing. She's probably hallucinating or hearing voices," said Valeria Taylor. "She's not fully aware of what she's doing. She's ill. She has a mental illness and she's struggled with it for a while."

Taylor said her daughter's mental health problems began several years ago and she's just glad nobody got seriously hurt. She hopes now, Kennedy will finally get the proper treatment she needs.
