Homicide suspect found dead after crash at Titusville park, police say

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville Mayor Andrew Connors praised the “swift and professional” response by the Titusville Police Department (TPD) and regional law enforcement partners during a critical incident Monday night at Sand Point Park.

Police said the initial incident happened around 6 p.m. and involved a homicide suspect from Volusia County.

How officers located the suspect

According to Titusville police, the city’s Flock Safety camera system alerted officers when the suspect vehicle entered Titusville. Officers were then able to quickly locate the vehicle, officials said.

But when police tried to pull the vehicle over, it fled, the department revealed.

What happened at Sand Point Park

Police said the suspect vehicle later crashed near Sand Point Park.

However, the police department also confirmed that no law enforcement officers fired weapons during the incident.

TPD reported:

  • No law enforcement officers were injured
  • The driver is deceased
  • The cause of death is unknown pending further investigation, though drowning is a possibility
