5-year-old drowns at Airbnb pool in Central Florida, deputies say

Deputies responded to Airbnb off Takeaway Way around 1 p.m.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 5-year-old from Brevard County died on Monday after he drowned in a pool at an Airbnb, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, an OCSO spokesperson said that deputies responded to the Airbnb off Takeaway Way in Davenport shortly after 1 p.m. for the child, who was located at the bottom of the pool.

“Deputies began life-saving measures on the unconscious child by performing CPR until fire rescue arrived on scene,” the release reads. “The 5-year-old male child was transported to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

Afterward, homicide detectives responded to the scene to investigate, the OCSO noted.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson also told News 6 that the child was with extended family and was in the pool with other children.
