Florida man accused of shooting woman in head Hugh Johnson faces attempted murder charge

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 64-year-old Melbourne man shot a woman in the head during a domestic dispute Sunday at their Brothers Avenue home, according to police.
Hugh Johnson faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remains incarcerated without bond at the Brevard County Jail Complex.
Officers responded to Johnson's home after a caller reported that the victim had been shot in the head and the gunman was walking from the scene, police said.
Police arrested Johnson without incident, according to officials.
The woman remained conscious and was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. She was released from the hospital Sunday.
Lynch said the pair were in a live-in relationship.
