Florida woman accused of kicking girl in face in after-school attack

Clesha Pinckney arrested on felony child abuse charges

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 37-year-old woman is accused of attacking and kicking a middle-school student in the face while the girl was walking home from school last week in Daytona Beach.

Clesha Pinckney, of Daytona Beach, was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of child abuse.

According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, the 13-year-old girl was walking home from school when she was approached by several children who asked her if she wanted to fight.

The girl said a white sport utility vehicle then pulled beside her and two children began hitting her in the head and upper body, according to deputies.

A woman, later identified as Pinckney, got out of the SUV and kicked the girl in the mouth, causing her lip to bleed, deputies said.  The girl was taken to Halifax Medical Center with a cut and swollen lip and a bump on the side of her head.

The alleged attackers then fled in the SUV, the girl told officials.

The Sheriff's Office said the girl was later able to identify Pinckney, who's on felony probation for habitually driving without a license, from a photo lineup.

In a court appearance Thursday, Pinckney told a judge that she wasn't involved in the altercation.

Two boys were also possibly involved in the attack, deputies said.  It's not known if any of the children have been arrested.
