OCOEE, Fla. – An Ocoee man won $3 million on a scratch-off ticket he put in his dog's Christmas stocking.

Florida Lottery officials say William Kelly, 58, purchased three $600,000,000 GOLD RUSH tickets from the Publix on Silver Star Road in Ocoee to put in his family's stockings, including his dog's.

"Giving Florida Lottery Scratch-Off tickets as Christmas gifts is one of my holiday traditions," Kelly said in a release. "I always hope to at least win my money back and I play to win, but I never expected this."

The winning ticket proved to be in the dog's stocking.

Kelly claimed his prize in one lump sum at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, officials said.
