OCALA, Fla. – Deputies arrested a man who allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend's friend with a hammer Sunday.

Deputies said they were called to the home of Megan Laurie Sauls, 20, who reported that her ex-boyfriend, Kevin James Sketo, 21, had beat the side of her friend's head with a hammer.

When deputies arrived at the home, they met the victim, David Michael Cipolla, 27, who they described as having a swollen, bloody face with two cuts on his nose and cheek. They also described finding large amounts of blood on the bed, carpet and wall.

Cipolla told deputies Sketo attacked him with a hammer while he was lying in bed.

Sauls told deputies she opened the front door of the home to find Sketo, who moved out of the home the week before.

Deputies said the two argued, then Sketo pushed Sauls and walked toward the master bedroom.

While Sauls did not witness the attack, she told deputies she heard loud hits and heard Sketo yelling at Cipolla. Sketo then left the home.

Deputies said they conducted a traffic stop on Sketo shortly after the report. He denied hitting Cipolla with a hammer, but said he hit him with his fist.

Deputes said Sketo told them, "I just did what any other guy would do."

During the traffic stop, deputies found a substance in Sketo's car that tested positive for marijuana.

Sketo was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
