ORLANDO, Fla. – A man awakened by the sound of a gunshot inside his Orlando condominium found an intruder inside his home, deputies said.
The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday on Tymberwood Lane at the Tymber Skan condos.
According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, the victim said he was sleeping when he heard gunfire inside his home. He said he saw a man with a gun, and a struggle ensued, according to deputies.
The gunman chased the man out of the condo, firing several shots at him, deputies said.
"The only thing I heard was some gunshots that woke me up," said Brian Viars, who lives nearby. "It's happened a thousand times before. You know what I'm saying? So, it's like normal for this area."
In May, a man was killed and two other men were injured in a shooting at the Tymber Skan condos.
Two months prior, a couple was shot at the same complex while they were watching TV.
The victim in Tuesday's incident sustained minor abrasions during the struggle but was not seriously injured, deputies said.
Orange County Fire Rescue crews who were at the condos for an unrelated call heard the gunfire and left until deputies secured the area.
A search for the gunman is ongoing.
A detailed description of the intruder was not known.
