Man steals fire extinguisher, sprays patrons in bar, West Melbourne police say

Man faces disorderly intoxication, criminal mischief, grand theft charges

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. – West Melbourne police arrested a man who they say was under the influence when he took the fire extinguisher off of a wall at a hotel and sprayed people outside.

Roberto Ramos was charged with disorderly intoxication, criminal mischief and grand theft fire extinguisher from building in the Wednesday incident at the America's Best Value Inn & Suites on West New Haven Avenue.

Police said Ramos had removed the fire extinguisher from the wall, damaged a door and was trying to punch walls in the bar before throwing the extinguisher at a person at the bar.

The total amount of property damaged was worth $1,650, according to police.

Officers said a breath test found that Ramos' blood alcohol level at .192.

Ramos was trespassed from the property and arrested.
