GRANT-VALKARIA, Fla. – A traffic alert was issued in Brevard County on Monday because of several injured pigs.

Motorists were urged to use caution along Valkaria Road near the municipal airport after reports of at least six injured feral pigs lying in the roadway, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.

A passerby called about 6:47 a.m. to report that several wild pigs had been possibly struck by a vehicle.

Brevard County sheriff’s deputies and animal services were contacted about the incident. A deputy removed the pigs from the roadway.

The pigs -- or boars -- are known to frequently roam through portions of the county's wild lands.
