Journee Blyde suffered head trauma, cops say

OCALA, Fla. – Marion County detectives on Tuesday are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who suffered a head trauma.

Deputies said they were called on June 21 to a home on Hemlock Course Run in Ocala after reports that Journee Blyde, 2, was not breathing and had become unresponsive.

Journee was taken to a hospital and on June 23, where doctors deemed she had no brain activity, according to deputies. She died on Friday.

Witnesses told deputies that Journee was playing and accidentally fell out of her crib, causing her injuries, according to the report. But a medical examiner ruled Journee's death as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing into how Journee was injured.
