COCOA, Fla. – A 22-year-old hit-and-run suspect police say went to a strip club after striking a panhandler faced a judge for the first time Wednesday.

Shepard Seamans did not answer most of the judge's questions at the county jail in Sharpes.

The judge ordered her to remain in jail on a $179,000 bond, adding up all her charges.

Cocoa Police say Tuesday Seamans struck a panhandler on State Road 520 near U.S. 1 and then fled the scene.

Police reports say she stopped for a moment speaking to witnesses but did not render aid to the victim.
Instead, she allegedly drove to a friend's house where she dropped off her Ford Explorer and went to Cheaters Gentlemen's Club in Cocoa Beach.

Wednesday, Seamans did not give the judge any explanation why she allegedly did not help the victim.

Police reports say she told officers she was scared and went to Cheaters for a shot of whiskey to calm down.
Police say Seamans works at Cheaters.

Seamans was also arrested on several drug charges including unrelated charges when prosecutors say earlier this year she illegally bought prescription pills at Walmart.

Police say the person Seamans struck remains in critical condition.

Seamans will be represented by the Public Defender's Office.
