Murder victim recorded suspect minutes before shooting, police say

Victim recorded calls with cellphone app

ORLANDO, Fla. – On the one year anniversary of an unsolved homicide, police released recorded phone calls between a murder victim and the suspected drug dealer who met up with him minutes before he was fatally shot.

Daquan Rozier, 22, was shot and killed Nov. 29, 2015, at about 4:50 a.m. outside a home on Edgemoor Street. Witnesses last year told News 6 the shooting was a drive-by and Rozier attempted to name his killer as he bled in his father's arms.

Rozier had an app on his phone that recorded calls and police say three of his final calls were to a man who was going to sell him Molly. The men make arrangements to get the drugs in the first call, in the other two calls the suspected drug dealer is asking for directions as he makes his way to Edgemoor Street.

The final call ends when Rozier spots the car driving up at 4:48 a.m., two minutes before he was shot.

Orlando Police Homicide detectives released the calls Tuesday, hoping someone would recognize the voice of the suspected drug dealer and step forward.

Anyone with information about the murder is asked to call Crime Line at 1-800- 423-TIPS or the Orlando Police Department.
