Estranged husband of missing woman arrested in Kentucky

Jarvis Madison found in Louisville by US marshals

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – The estranged husband of a woman reported missing in Volusia County was taken into custody Friday morning in Kentucky, but his wife has not been found, officials said.

Jarvis "Wane" Madison, 58, was found by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Louisville and arrested on a warrant for criminal confinement that was issued by Indiana State Police, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Rachael Madison, 44, of Indiana, is still missing, deputies said, and Volusia sheriff’s deputies and the FBI continue to investigate her disappearance.

Rachael Madison vanished in November after going on a jog near Ormond Beach, her aunt said. Deputies said it's not known if her estranged husband played a role in her disappearance.

Rachael Madison's aunt, Thelma Newsom, said her niece moved to the Ormond Beach area to stay with her in an effort to get away from her husband.

"I'm afraid he has abducted her," she said. "He shot at her (in an earlier incident in Indiana)."

Jarvis Madison's vehicle, a silver 2011 Honda Pilot, was impounded, deputies said. He doesn't face any charges in Volusia County.

Anyone with information on Rachael Madison's whereabouts is asked to call 386-323-0151 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida toll-free at 888-277-TIPS.
