Fire breaks out at Orange County warehouse

Flames were coming through roof of warehouse on Colonial Drive, officials say

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A fire broke out Saturday at a warehouse on Colonial Drive, Orange County Fire Rescue personnel said.

Fire Rescue crews were dispatched around 7:15 p.m. to Creative Auto Boutique, which customizes cars, and sells stereos and wheels.

Flames were coming through the roof. Officials said the warehouse was fully engulfed. The fire was later contained, but crews were watching out for hot spots and said
they would monitor the building throughout the night.

"The first building out was totally destroyed by the fire, under investigation at this time," Lake County Fire Chief Eric Palmer said. "The back building, that was our initial goal, the back buildings behind it were saved. Those buildings are fine and the vehicles in the back were saved."

No injuries were reported and no other businesses were impacted.

Clermont, Winter Garden and Lake County crews assisted. The Sheriff's Office was also at the scene.

"We used a tower operation to get above it and flood it out using the ladder trucks," Palmer said. "That kept us safe and just flooded out the inside. The roof had already come down."

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The State Fire Marshal's Office is now investigating.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's office were on the scene Sunday morning. News 6 saw them inspecting the warehouse and speaking to the owners.

Drivers on westbound State Road 50 were being rerouted near Oakland. The roadway has since reopened.
