2 injured when ambulance, car collide in Brevard

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – A paramedic and another driver were taken to the hospital after an ambulance and a car collided Monday evening in Merritt Island.

A Brevard County Fire Rescue ambulance was headed to a medical emergency around 5:30 p.m. when it was involved in an accident with another vehicle at the intersection of State Road 520 and North Courtenay Parkway, officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the other vehicle failed to yield to the ambulance and struck the ambulance's front left side.

The ambulance driver was taken to the hospital for observation. The other paramedic in the ambulance was not injured. 

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
