Firefighters work to put out wildfires caused by lightning, officials say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Firefighters worked Saturday to put out multiple wildfires that were caused by lightning, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fire Management personnel said.

Firefighters responded Saturday to four wildfires at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Three of the fires were contained as of Saturday afternoon. Officials said one fire northwest of NASA's Kennedy Space Center visitor center, estimated at 50 acres, was inaccessible.
