Snoop Dogg, Roger Stone endorse John Morgan for governor

Attorney Morgan has not decided if he's running for office

ORLANDO, Fla. – Rapper Snoop Dogg took to Twitter early Monday morning, praising an article that suggested attorney John Morgan might make a run for the Florida governor's mansion.

His tweet linked to an article on the website Merry Jane, where Morgan was called "Florida's most outspoken legal weed advocate."

Morgan's son, Matt Morgan, responded on Twitter later Monday morning, saying, "Appreciate the support @SnoopDogg. We are big fans."

The tweet that perhaps turned even more heads over the weekend was one sent by self-avowed Trump loyalist and conservative Roger Stone.

"Many ask me if I'm for Putnam, Corcoran or DeSantis for governor of Florida," he tweeted. "Hell, I'm for John Morgan."

The tweet surprised many people as Morgan's politics lean Democrat. He hosted fundraisers for Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election.

Morgan is already trending in some political polls focusing on the governor's race.

According to a poll conducted in April by Gravis Marketing, respondents were asked if the primary election were held today, who would you vote for?

Fourteen percent of Democrats said they would vote for Morgan -- a close win over Democrats Andrew Gillum and Gwen Graham, who have already declared their candidacy.

News 6 asked Morgan on Monday if these endorsements were helping make up his mind to run for governor.

He emailed from Branson, Missouri, saying, "It takes a village to elect a governor. #bigtent."

The election for Florida governor takes place in November 2018.
