Man shoots, kills woman on Thanksgiving, turns gun on himself, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 33-year-old man shot and killed a woman on Thanksgiving inside an Orlando apartment before turning the gun on himself, officials with the Orlando Police Department said.

Police identified Jared Soares as the shooter and Heather Diane Nieves, 33, as the victim.

Police responded to the Dover Garden Apartments Thursday afternoon on Adriel Lane for a well-being check when they found both Nieves and Soares dead, according to the report.

The relationship between the victim and Soares is unknown.

Police have classified this case as a murder-suicide and are not releasing any more information.
