ORLANDO, Fla. – Happy new life, babies!
Two girls were the first babies born in Orlando in 2018.
Baby Ava McKenzie Mann was born at 12:02 a.m. Monday at Florida Hospital for Women, and baby Bri was born at 1:34 a.m. at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando.
Ava weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and arrived earlier than her Jan. 8 due date after a nearly 15-hour labor, Florida hospital officials said.
Ava's mother Jasmine Fair said her new daughter wanted to make a big early entrance to the world.
“My grandmother predicted it weeks ago, but I thought she was going to come in after her due date. She wanted to make a grand entrance,” Fair said.

Jasmine Fair holds her newborn daughter Ava born at 12:02 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
This is also Fair’s first child. She said she started to get contractions New Year’s Eve morning.
Fair describes her daughter as a “star.”
"She's a good baby. She doesn't cry or nothing. She is just... she is new and fresh!” Fair added.
Bri was the first baby born in 2018 at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando, officials said.
We also reached out to Halifax Health Medical Center for 2018 newborns as well. We are waiting to hear back from hospital officials.
The New Year's Day babies will be introduced later in the day.
