Authorities said 29-year-old Albert Hanks was found collapsed around 2:35 a.m. on April 15 near the 200 block of Terry Avenue. He was later pronounced dead.
Police said they initially received conflicting and incorrect information from Holmes and a confidential informant about the details of the shooting.
Eventually, Holmes told police that Hanks owed $1,000 to Chambers, who was mad that Hanks did not have the money, according to the report.
Police said multiple people held down Hanks and demanded his PIN for his ATM card. Chambers, Holmes and a third person went to an ATM to attempt to withdraw money but the account was overdrawn, the report said.
That's when police said Chambers received a phone call, reportedly from a man known as "Pooh" who was still with Hanks, asking if they got any money from the ATM.
When the three returned to where they had left Hanks and "Pooh," police officers were at the scene, the report said.
Police wrote in a report that "Pooh" is believed to be responsible for Hanks' death, but that man's name was not provided and it is unclear if he is in custody.
Jail records show that Dixon and Chambers are both charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. Chambers is also charged with criminal use of personal identification information and driving with a suspended license. Holmes was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and making false reports to law enforcement.
