Boy, 16, flags down deputy after being shot in Orange County, officials say

Teen taken to hospital in stable condition

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Officials are investigating a shooting that left a teenager injured Sunday night.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the 16-year-old boy flagged down a deputy near an Amscot in the area of San Antonio Avenue and Americana Boulevard after being shot.

Deputies said the teen was shot nearby, then taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

News 6 watched for hours as deputies and crime scene investigators worked the scene, searching for clues.

Witnesses told News 6 they heard four gunshots. 

"Pah, pah, pah, then everybody got to looking," an unidentified witness said. 

One witness said he saw the teen who was shot nearby run to the Amscot for help. 

"He made it to the front door, then I saw him drop," the witness said. 

Tabitha Anderson lives nearby and has kids of her own.

"Put the guns down. Do the right thing and stop the violence," Anderson said. "Think about the choices. That’s someone’s child. Everyone wants their kids to come home at night."

Sheriff’s Office officials said they don’t have any information on a suspect at this time.
