Judge clears security company in Pulse nightclub shooting

G4S Secure Solutions provided firearms training to Omar Mateen

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A judge has ruled that the security company that provided firearms training to the man who killed 49 people in an Orlando nightclub can't be blamed for the attack.

Circuit Judge Donald Hafele wrote in a March 15 decision that G4S Secure Solutions had nothing to do with Omar Mateen's attack on Pulse nightclub on June 16, 2016. The judge said Mateen wasn't working for the security firm at the time.

The Palm Beach Post reports it's the second time this judge has cleared G4S of wrongdoing in the attack. In January 2018, he threw out the first lawsuit filed against the company that employed Mateen for nine years.

Attorney Keith Altman, who represents about 50 Pulse shooting victims, called the decision "erroneous" and said he plans an appeal.
