Pedestrian killed in Apopka crash, police say

Crash initially investigated as hit-and-run, police now say it wasn't

A pedestrian was killed Tuesday night in Apopka after being struck by two cars as he was waiting to cross North Park Avenue, police said.

Apopka police said Delfino Vasquez-Feria, 59, was standing in the center turn lane around 7:45 p.m., waiting to cross North Park Avenue when he was hit by the first car, knocking him into the northbound lanes. He was then hit by another car, police said.

Vasquez-Feria died at the crash scene. Both drivers stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Police initially investigated the crash as a possible hit-and-run but later determined both vehicles that hit Vasquez-Feria stayed on the scene and a third vehicle was not involved.
