“Our very highest priority is the safety and security of our students. This morning we evacuated our school as a result of visible smoke. The students and staff did a remarkable job of vacating in a calm and orderly fashion. The fire department determined that the smoke was a result of a backpack that was on fire. We are cooperating with authorities and conducting an investigation as to the source of the fire and will take all appropriate actions when the investigation is complete," said Colleen Reynolds, spokeswoman for Four Corners Charter School.
