Edgar, now 18, is accused of fatally shooting Tyrek Hill, 25, and Timothy Schmidt Jr., 19, during Halloween celebrations in downtown Orlando, also injuring seven others.
Last month, Edgar wrote a letter to the judge presiding over his case claiming he was suffering from “extreme mental or emotional disturbance” at the time of the shooting.
In the letter, Edgar asked Judge Keith Carsten to consider the emotional state he was in at the time. He also wrote that he takes full responsibility for what happened and expressed regret over the impact his actions may have had on others.
Earlier this year, Edgar underwent a psychological evaluation. The results of that evaluation remain confidential on his criminal docket.
