COCOA, Fla. – A man shooting at a squirrel with a BB gun prompted a 911 call, a lockdown at a nearby elementary school and a sweeping neighborhood search by Cocoa police Thursday.
The resident, who lives in the 1200 block of Yale Lane, told Cocoa police the squirrel had been "wreaking havoc" in his attic, News 6 partner Florida Today. A neighbor who was concerned about seeing the man with the gun, called 911 about 8:45 a.m.

“Someone called to report that they saw a man pointing a rifle at a house," said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Cocoa Police Department.
At least half a dozen officers arrived in the neighborhood, surrounded the home and ordered the man to step outside. Meanwhile, as a precaution, Cocoa police ordered Cambridge Elementary, located a short distance away, on lock down.
When the unidentified man eventually stepped outside, he explained the situation with the squirrel. The lock down at Cambridge was called off about 10:15 a.m. The squirrel's fate was not immediately known.
