OPD: 2 charged in human trafficking, homicide of 14-year-old girl

The victim and her sister were both trafficked for 8 days

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two arrests have been made in the death of a 14-year-old girl who was involved in human trafficking, Orlando police said on Wednesday.

The victim and her 15-year-old sister were trafficked for eight days starting on Aug. 8., according to arrest warrants. On Aug. 14 the victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center suffering from an overdose. She was later pronounced dead.

The teens were given Xanax and "over the counter cold medicine" to forget their encounters, according to Orlando Police Chief John Mina, MBI and homicide detectives who were giving an update on the case Wednesday.

An affidavit says the men used Backpage.com to find clients and drove the girls to meeting locations.

The following two men have been charged in the case and are being held without bond, according to Orlando police: Avorice Jeno Holman Jr., 19, and Jose Ignacio Santiago Sotomayor, 22.

Both men charged with nine counts, including: first degree murder, human trafficking of a child, procurement of a child for prostitution with death and possession of child pornography.

Police are

still looking for two people also believed to be involved in the case, Karla Michelle Quiros Alsina, 22, and Arthur Lee Coleman III, 27.
