Man, 83, accused of driving drunk, crashing into Ocala police cruiser Gerald Burns released from jail on bond
OCALA, Fla. – An 83-year-old Marion County man is facing charges after Ocala police say he crashed into the back of one of their patrol cars while driving drunk.
Investigators say officers were investigating a crash along State Road 200 and Southwest 35 Terrace early Saturday morning when a driver, identified by police as Gerald Burns, crashed into the back of the cruiser.

Police say the patrol car was empty at the time and no one was hurt.
Officers conducted a DUI assessment on Burns, which resulted in his arrest.
Investigators say Burns’ blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. Investigators say Burns was also in possession of cocaine.
Burns was booked in the Marion County Jail on charges of DUI and drug possession but was released after posting bond.
