DeSantis touts civics education initiative in Seminole County
Governor boasts increased funding in new budget

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference Thursday at a technology magnet school in Sanford to tout his administration’s initiatives in civics education.
“One of the things that we have focused on since I became governor is the need to have robust civics education,” DeSantis said.
The governor spoke at Crooms Academy of Information Technology and was joined by Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr.
DeSantis announced increased funding in the new fiscal year to expand the states civics training program for teachers, $1 million in the new state budget.
“That’s double last year’s funding,” the governor said. “We’re gonna continue to put emphasis on this and we’re going to continue to put resources towards this.”
