Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld remains on administrative leave as investigators conduct an unspecified internal investigation initiated last week, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.
Rosenfeld, who has served as chief for the beachside tourist community of nearly 12,000 residents since 2016, has been with the agency for nearly 23 years. The reason for the internal investigation was not made public.
“There is no additional information at this time,” wrote Karin Grooms, the city’s spokesperson, in a statement. “This is an ongoing investigation, and Chief Rosenfeld will remain on paid administrative leave until further notice.”
It was not immediately known who was overseeing the 43-officer police department in the interim.
