Book promotion and policy highlights were the main theme of the event

THE VILLAGES, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is scheduled to speak at an event in The Villages on Tuesday evening to discuss the “Florida Blueprint,” according to a release.

During the event, DeSantis spoke on many of the policy decisions and achievements that stemmed from his administration while also promoting his new book, “The Courage to Be Free.”

Notably, DeSantis discussed a major topic in his book, which was aimed at a struggle between state officials and the Walt Disney Company over the Parental Rights in Education law that was signed last year.

“The problem that we face, and it’s a threat to our way of life and our freedoms, is woke ideology,” DeSantis announced during the speech. “Woke is a form of cultural Marxism. It’s trying to get us to indulge in things that are not true. They want you to believe that men can get pregnant. They want you to believe that babies are born racist.”

The governor also talked about other policy successes he pushed for in Florida, including easing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, hurricane response efforts and fighting against DEI — Diversity, Equity and Inclusion — policies in the state.
