Man attempted a $1,300 purchase with stolen credit card, deputies said

OCALA, Fla. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man suspected of stealing a senior woman’s purse and using her credit card.

A 77-year-old woman was shopping at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 7855 S.W. Hwy. 200 in Ocala on Wednesday when surveillance footage shows a man stealing her purse out of her shopping cart, deputies said.

The man then tried to buy about $1,300 worth of electronics in the store using her credit card, but the card was declined, a release from the sheriff’s office shows.

After shoplifting a soda, the man left the Walmart and headed down the street to the Circle K at 7580 Hwy. 200, where he successfully used the woman’s credit card to buy gas, deputies said.

He then left the gas station, abandoning the purse by the gas pumps.
