Man faces murder charge in Orlando shooting, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police said they have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting in an Orlando neighborhood.

Police said they responded to the 1000 block of Dewitt Drive around 2:35 p.m. on July 22 in reference to a “wounded individual.”

According to a news release, when officers arrived, they located an injured man and began life-saving measures.

Police said the man, later identified as 41-year-old Marcus Demetrius Demps, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, Orlando police announced that 29-year-old Carl Robinson faces charges in connection Demps’ homicide.

Orlando police said Robinson was arrested by the SWAT team and faces charges of 2nd-degree homicide with a firearm.

A search warrant was “executed on Robinson’s residence utilizing SWAT, FIU, & Homicide detectives,” according to the Orlando Police Department.
