ORLANDO, Fla. – Jan. 15 marks 37 years since the U.S. began observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The federal holiday marks the birthday of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It is observed on the third Monday of January each year.
