Preparations underway as Orlando set to host Pro Bowl, Olympic trials this weekend

Busy sports weekend on tap for downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Preparations are happening over the next few days for what will be a busy weekend in Orlando.

The Team USA Olympic Trials for marathon is in downtown Saturday morning and the 2024 Pro Bowl Games is at Camping World Stadium with events on Thursday and Sunday.

Chris Hughes is the director of retail operations at Track Shack and was at Lake Eola Park Tuesday while setup was happening along Rosalind Avenue.

Track Shack was instrumental in bringing the Team USA Olympic Trials to Orlando.

“It’s monumental. It really feels like a lifetime achievement award,” Hughes said. “This will just make it that much more obvious that we are one of the elite sports tourism destinations in the world.”

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the sporting events and road closures will like cause traffic issues along some streets.

“It’s going to be jam-packed around here,” Hughes said. There’s not going to be much room to move. Obviously, where the runners are themselves will be very barricaded off, but all these surrounding streets are going to be lined with spectators.”
