Accidental fire kills dog, destroys Titusville home, firefighters say

Firefighters respond to Whispering Pines Manufactured Home and RV Community

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A fire late Friday at a 55+ manufactured home and RV community in Titusville left a dog dead and a home destroyed, according to the Titusville Fire Department.

Firefighters responded around 11:11 p.m. to the Whispering Pines Manufactured Home and RV Community along Cheney Highway, reporting a heavy fire involving 90% of the home, the fire department said on social media.

Flames were exposed on all four sides of the structure, damaging a nearby vehicle that also became involved in the blaze, the post states. The home’s occupant had since evacuated and crews were able to contain the fire and prevent further damage to other structures, according to the department.

The occupant’s dog was unable to escape the fire and did not survive, but no injuries were otherwise reported, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature and related to cooking, according to the department. The home was deemed a total loss, firefighters said.

Red Cross was on hand to assist, as well as Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Titusville Police Department, the post states.
