“My piece ‘Taking Flight’ is about finding one’s own way whether it seems impossible or not,” said Ding.

Disney has been a huge inspiration behind Ding’s work and one of the few role models she had growing up was animated Mulan.

“Being a grown-up myself, I am honored to be a representation of what we can achieve no matter what our backgrounds are,” Ding said.
