According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived at the scene, they found 16-year-old David Anthony Vargas Acker with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said Acker brought the gun to the home to show his girlfriend and another friend. The three were pointing it at each other and posing with the gun and at one point, the girl pointed the gun at Acker, pulled the gun, and shot him, deputies said.

After consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, detectives secured an arrest warrant for the girl and took her into custody on Wednesday. She faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child.

She is being held at the juvenile detention center.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Acker’s family with funeral expenses.
