MIMS, Fla. – A precautionary boil water notice was issued Thursday for residents of the Mims water service area following a water main break, according to the Brevard County Utility Services Department.
The water main break occurred near Mitchell Avenue and Ricard Street, the county said in a news release.
Thursday’s notice was issued to those living on 2300-2500 Harry T. Moore Ave., Cherry Street, Tyler (sic; potentially Taylor Street), Carver Street, Davis Street, Correll Circle, 2300-2290 Railroad Ave., Davis Street, Jefferson Street, Ricard Street, Main Street, 2560- 3016 Mitchell Ave. and the Willow Lakes Subdivision, the release states.
All water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should first be brought to a rolling boil of at least one minute. Bottled water may always be used as an alternative.

The notice will remain in effect until the problem is fixed and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, according to the release.
Those with questions were encouraged to call the utility services department at 321-633-2091.
