Man shot, killed in road rage incident at McDonald’s drive-thru in Daytona Beach, police say

Fatal shooting happened at restaurant located at 2709 LPGA Blvd.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A man was shot and killed Sunday in what police described as a road rage incident at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Daytona Beach, according to a news release.

Daytona Beach police said they responded to the restaurant at 2709 LPGA Blvd. around 8:05 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

According to the release, when officers arrived, they saw a woman performing CPR on a man who was on the ground in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police said that a man standing nearby approached officers and said that he was the person who shot the victim.

A preliminary investigation showed the shooting was “related to a road rage incident that started in the restaurant’s drive-thru line,” the release said.

According to police, an altercation occurred in the parking lot between the men and one of them shot the other, saying that he feared for his life.

Police said 31-year-old Brian Collins was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
