Daniel Clair Marriott faces charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – One of the two victims who were injured in a tent fire at a homeless camp in Orange County has died, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday.

Last week, Daniel Clair Marriott, 48, was arrested on attempted murder charges after two people were injured in the Nov. 11 fire, according to sheriff’s officials.

Marriott was arrested in Seminole County on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and was being held in the Seminole County jail. It’s not immediately known if his charges have been upgraded or whether he’s been transported to Orange County.

Around 3 a.m. on Nov. 11, Orange County deputies responded to a wooded area near Michigan Court and John Young Parkway for a fire.

Deputies said a man and a woman in their 20s were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. It’s not known if the man or woman died.

Authorities later determined the tent was intentionally set on fire.

No other details have been released.
