Man dies in shooting at Orange County gas station, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man has died after being shot Sunday evening at a gas station in Orange County, officials said on Monday.

The shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. at the Citgo at 719 North Powers Drive.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area and found a man, later identified as Lavon Fuquan Hawkins Jr., 33, who had been shot.

Hawkins was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died, deputies said.

“It’s still early in this active investigation. We don’t have any additional details to release at this time,” OCSO said in a statement.
