ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The holiday season is in full swing, and shipping facilities across the nation are working to ensure packages reach their destinations in time for Christmas.
Inside one Orange County USPS facility, the mood is described as exciting as workers process nearly double the usual volume of packages.
One machine alone can handle 10,000 packages an hour.
“The team is just so dedicated. They come in, they understand what the game plan is. We have a little huddle with them,” said Lisa Lake, Seminole Plant Manager.
With the surge in holiday shipping, workers urge customers to stay ahead of deadlines. Key dates include Dec. 18 for ground shipping and first-class mail, Dec. 19 for priority mail, and Dec. 21 for priority mail express.
“We have a lot of packages. We are getting them in and getting them out. We have a great team working in this facility,” said Lake. “It’s usually double the amount of packages coming through, and it varies in sizes and shapes.”
