Police identified the suspect as Yohan’s son, 38-year-old Almeb Y. Gebreyohannes, who previously threatened to kill his mother back in 2014, according to the department.

Police said Gebreyohannes was shot multiple times by officers in 2014 after charging at them with a baseball bat. Then, in 2022, the suspect’s father called police to report his son choked him. Police responded to the home and officers used a Taser on Gebreyohannes after he threatened to stab an officer with a knife, according to a release.

Gebreyohannes was arrested and faces a second-degree murder charge.

An investigation is ongoing.
