OCOEE, Fla. – State Attorney Monique Worrell’s office has declined to file charges against a man arrested in the shooting death of an Army veteran near a busy Ocoee intersection.
Ocoee police said Gregory C Reed, 60, was shot multiple times near Clarke Road and Silver Star Road, not far from a Publix and a Circle K on Nov. 9, 2023.
A year later, Kendrick J. Anderson, 27, was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting.
According to a court filing on April 30, the assistant state attorney said the case was not suitable for prosecution.
“From the investigation which has been made, it is the opinion of the writer that this case is not suitable for prosecution.”

News 6 spoke with Reed’s daughter, Diedre Anderson on Tuesday afternoon.
“My dad Gregory Reed was kind and soft spoken and a man who was simply passing through a gas station parking lot when his life was stolen,” Anderson said.
She also said they are in shock that the charges weren’t filed and that the assistant state attorney told her it was her decision. Apparently, there were two men in the vehicle where the shots were fired, but it could not be proven which one fired the fatal shot.
“It was a lot of emotions all at once but we’re mostly heartbroken because he’s gone and there is no justice,” Anderson said.
News 6 has reached out to Worrell’s office for comment, but have not yet heard back.
