ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old man was arrested after his 3-month-old baby who died was found with multiple skull and rib fractures, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office on Tuesday said Darius Stephone Nichols faces first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges in the death of his daughter.

Deputies said Nichols reported his baby was unconscious on April 30 after falling from a couch.
However, the sheriff’s office said an autopsy showed the baby had skull fractures in “numerous places” and had several healing rib fractures from previous incidents.
“In her short life, baby Nova suffered horrific abuse and trauma. She is resting peacefully now, and our detectives will get justice for baby Nova,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media.
Nichols is currently booked in the Orange County jail.
