ST. CLOUD, Fla. – An Osceola County code enforcement officer was arrested for theft after she was caught on camera stealing a package, the sheriff’s office said.

According to a news release, deputies responded to a larceny report on Maple Tree Lane in Saint Cloud. The victim reported that a package containing a $600 cellphone had been delivered to her property and was stolen by an Osceola County code enforcement officer.

The incident was captured on the victim’s surveillance cameras, prompting detectives from the East Property Crimes Unit to take over the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. Upon reviewing the video evidence, detectives confirmed that on April 16, a uniformed code enforcement officer, identified as Vanessa Ramon, arrived at the property in a white county pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives collaborated with code enforcement officials to verify Vanessa Ramon’s identity and to confirm that taking the package was not part of her official duties, the sheriff’s office said.

Following the investigation, Vanessa Ramon was interviewed, arrested, and transported to the Osceola County Jail without further incident.

Ramon faces a charge of grand theft, which is classified as a third-degree felony.
